The Cordillera Blanca in the Ancash region is one of the most amazing scenic areas of Peru. The high snowy peaks can be seen from miles out. This mountain range is home to Nevado Huascaran - the highest peak in Peru - 6,768 meters (22,205 ft) tall, and the entire region is filled with beautiful turquoise lakes (Lagoonas, as they call it locally) and streams draining the molten snow from the peaks.
Some of the most popular treks in the Cordillera Blanca are the long Huayhuash trek, the Santa Cruz trek and the Laguna 69 day trek. They can all be reached from Huaraz.
