Saltified Vegetation, Dead Sea

These bushes once grew on the ground. But as the water level in the salt pools rose, salt accumulated around the bushes, killing and preserving them at the same time.
This image was taken in the southern part of the Dead Sea. While this was once a part of the sea, nowadays these are pools intended for harvesting salt.
